Shanelle Valerie Woods (Carmen: Carmen / Ensemble: My Fair Lady) is delighted to be returning to GLOW, and to be making her role debut as Carmen. Favorite credits include a double feature in GLOW’s 2017 festival season – as Tituba in THE CRUCIBLE, and as Ronnie in HAIR. Other credits include: The Judge in the world premiere of STOMPING GROUNDS – a new work commissioned by The Glimmerglass Festival, Jeanette in the Colour of Music Festival production of L’Amant anonyme, and a double feature with Spoleto Festival USA: Kentucky Kate in Afram ou La Belle Swita, and Annie in PORGY AND BESS. She also recently contributed to a production of TOSCA with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. She holds a Master of Music in Voice Performance from University of Florida (‘12), and has been a adjunct professor of voice at Charleston Southern University and Claflin University, while maintaining a private studio at FAME Performing Arts (Mt. Pleasant, SC). In the fall, Shanelle will assume the role of Education Coordinator/Voice Teacher for Young People’s Chorus of New York City. She can’t think of a better way to bid farewell to SC than with a character as fiercely independent as Carmen, and thanks her upstate family and lowcountry friends for all of their love and support.
