Director of Marketing and Audience Services (P/T)

Glow Lyric Theatre, Greenville’s opera, and musical theatre company, is seeking a Director of Marketing and Audience Services to join the Glow leadership team. Applicants from populations underrepresented in the theatre field are strongly encouraged to apply. 

ABOUT GLOW: Founded in 2009 by husband and wife team Christian Elser and Jenna Tamisiea, Glow Lyric Theatre is a professional, non-profit organization whose mission is to produce fiscally responsible opera, operetta and musical theatre that is in direct response to the social and political climate of South Carolina. Glow’s Summer Festival features three fully produced performances and one cabaret performance. Glow’s Raising Voices Series consists of one to three concerts or chamber operas each year. Glow strives to partner with regional and international artists to bring inclusive,  innovative, accessible and challenging programming to the upstate of South Carolina.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION: Part-Time  Seasonal Director of Marketing and Audience Services (March-August, 2022).  This person is in charge of box office sales and communication with patrons, advertising, marketing and advertising plans; subscriber relations; web and social media. efforts; and outreach and audience development for the Glow 2022 Festival Season. The position manages the Arts People Ticketing System, and during the summer season, oversees the Box Office and Front of House staff/interns/volunteers.

Hours: Marketing hours are flexible and can be performed remotely. Box Office hours will be set once tickets go on sale (April 15) and this position will be expected to attend all performances of the season in order to run the box office/front of house. Visit our website for season details. 

Compensation: $4,000

 

SPECIFIC EXPECTATIONS:

Manage Marketing and Audience Service budgets • Direct and manage Glow’s advertising and marketing campaigns • Develop subscription, group sales and single ticket sales initiatives • Plan direct mail campaigns and email eblast campaigns • Oversee outreach initiatives including Pay What You Can Dates, free preview performances, sponsor previews, and show panels, Friends and Family discounts, including accompanying lobby displays/activities • Work with outside designers and printing vendors for season artwork and paper marketing and develop distribution plans  • Conduct market research and audience surveys for audience development • Manage press releases, coordinating with artists for press opportunities, onsite press events, photo shoots and press performances • Oversee and develop editorial content in the Playbill, on the website and on social media • Oversee all digital media initiatives, including photography, videography, and other recordings for artistic programs, historic content, and archival documentation. • Oversee all organic and paid social media initiatives  • Oversee maintenance and development of Glow’s website and ticketing system • Direct box office operations, including customer service • Direct front of house operations  • Work with Front of House interns to create lobby displays, merchandise tables, and interactive marketing events for the lobby of the theatre 

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will be a results-oriented professional who thrives in an intense, high-quality, fast-paced work environment. Specifically, they must have:

Experience in marketing/advertising • Experience in the non-profit sector or performing arts a plus  • Experience with customer service/sales  • Strong, creative eye for design • Some knowledge of marketing concepts and techniques • Leadership experience with people and budgets  • Hands-on self-starter who works well within a fast-paced environment and effectively manages multiple  projects and meets multiple deadlines • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and public relations skills • Flexible, collaborative work style, and the even temperament necessary to work directly with artists and accommodate artistic personalities • Genuine interest in the mission • Knowledge of Abode Creative Suite a plus • This part-time position is salaried.
