The Pandemic Efffect
You may have seen our announcement on our website or newsletter that due to the global pandemic of Covid-19, Glow has been forced to postpone it’s Summer Festival Season. What fuels this decision is our deep concern for the health and safety of those 5,000 patrons and 150 artists who come from near and far to attend and work with our festival annually. As a financially responsible non-profit, we earn over 50% of our annual operating budget solely through ticket sales. The decision to postpone the season has put a tremendous financial strain on Glow, the likes of which we have never seen.
We estimate the loss of revenue from refunded tickets, as well as the postponement of the performances, to be well over $100,000.
For the past decade, Glow Lyric Theatre has been a source of joy and pride for the Upstate community, providing innovative and thought-provoking opera and musical theatre that features live orchestras and world class singers. Even in these uncertain times, Glow is working to fulfill our mission virtually by providing free performances on our social media for those experiencing isolation at home.
For all that we offer to our community, we are asking you to make a donation NOW.
Our hope and plan is to produce the current season of Aida, Show Boat and Tosca next summer in 2021. In order to make this a reality, we are counting on you to sustain our organization during this critical juncture. By giving a donation today, you are ensuring that Glow has a future and survives this global crisis.
