Emlynn Shoemaker (Offred Double in The Handmaid’s Tale), Mezzo-soprano, is thrilled to return to GLOW Lyric Theatre for another season. She joined GLOW in 2018 and made her role debut as Buttercup for their production of HMS Pinafore, and in 2022 as Barbara Thames for their production of STINNEY: An American Execution. Her recent credits include her role debut as Julia Child in Hoiby’s Bon Appétit! with Evanston Chamber Opera in February of this year, as well as La Vecchia Zita in Gianni Schicchi with Cedar Rapids Opera in June. Ms. Shoemaker is an active mezzo-soprano in the Chicagoland area, singing regularly with Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Chicago Choral Artists, and will be joining the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s chorus for their upcoming season. Ms. Shoemaker received her MM in Vocal Performance from the University of Kansas under the tutelage of renowned mezzo-soprano Joyce Castle. She is a former young artist of Cedar Rapids Opera, Russian Opera Workshop, GLOW Lyric Theatre, and Lawrence Opera Theatre.
