Ruth Brooks | Julliette | Soprano
Ruth Brooks, soprano, is an active performer based in the Atlanta area. She recently made her debut with Peach State Opera performing the role of Donna Anna in their touring production of Don Giovanni. In 2015, she performed the role of Gretel (Hansel and Gretel) with the Southwest Virginia Opera and the role of Pamina (Die Zauberflӧte) as a guest artist at the Opera Breve Vocal Intensive. In 2014, she made her debut with Pensacola Opera singing Mrs. Gobineau (The Medium). She also performed the role of Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) twice with both the Harrower Summer Opera and the Opera Breve Vocal Intensive in TX. She has sung with the Atlanta Opera Chorus and as a soloist with various other performing ensembles throughout the Southeast. Miss Brooks completed her Master’s degree in Vocal Performance at Florida State University and while there performed the role of Lauretta in their mainstage production of Gianni Schicchi and the role of Adina (The Elixir of Love) for Opera Outreach. Her other roles include Anna Maurrant (Street Scene), Zorah (Ruddigore), and Pitti-Sing (The Mikado).

Wesley Morgan | Roméo | Tenor
“Fresh voiced young tenor” (parterre.com) Wesley Morgan has been praised by conductors,stage directors and audiences for his “ringing tenor” and “gift for suave phrasing”(GreenvilleNews). Of Wesley’s Opera in the Heights debut as Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor, BroadwayWorld.com said “Wesley Morgan’s polished tenor instrument is put to great use withthis score.” Wesley reprised the role of Edgardo at the Belleayre Music Festival in the Catskills.After a New York City debut with Teatro Grattacielo on a gala concert featuring Aprile Milo,Wesley returned this season as Alexis in Siberia. Opera news said of his performance “WesleyMorgan’s clear tenor made one wish Giordano had given Alexis more to sing.” Mr. Morgan made his international debut as the tenor soloist in Messiah for the Windsor Symphony Orchestra in Ontario and returned to Atlanta Opera as Gastone in La Traviata, inwhich Opera News described him as “a natural comedian.” As an Atlanta Opera Studio Artisthe starred in the company’s touring shows as Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance, andappeared on the mainstage as Mayor in Cold Sassy Tree, and 1st Priest in Die Zauberflöte.Wesley is thrilled to be returning to St. Petersburg Opera this season as Belmonte in DieEntführung aus dem Serail. He is an alumni of SPO’s Emerging Artist program in which hesang Count Almaviva in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, and Nemorino in l’Elisir d’Amore. Other roles include Tamino in Die Zauberflöte (Ash Lawn Opera, family matinee), Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi (Capitol City Opera), Nanki Poo in The Mikado (Atlanta Lyric Theatre, Greenville Light Opera Works), The Son in Les Mamelles de Tirésias (Vespertine Opera Theatre), Rodolfo in La Bohéme (El Paso Opera), Eisenstein and Alfred in Die Fledermaus (El Paso Opera, Vashon Opera, Asheville Lyric Opera).Recent and upcoming concert engagements include the Albany Symphony Orchestra, NewJersey Choral Society (Schubert Mass in Eb), Savannah Philharmonic, the Helena Symphony Orchestra (St. Matthew’s Passion), the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra (Mozart Requiem), and theAtlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Jeff Beruan | Frère Laurent | Basso
American Bass Jeffrey Beruan is an important artist who possesses a rich, sonorous, and striking voice that moves with elegance and agility. His singing has been described as “intensely dramatic,” “melodious,” and “powerful.” An excellent actor, the young bass has received acclaim for bringing dramatic life to the smallest roles. Recent highlights for him include Sarastro (The Magic Flute) and Zuniga (Carmen) for the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, a role debut as George Benton, the Prison Warden in Jake Heggie’s Dead Man Walking for Madison Opera, a reprise of Ferrando (Il Trovatore), the King (Aida) and a role debut of Don Fernando (Fidelio) for Sarasota Opera, a role and company debut singing Pluton in Charpentier’s La Descente d’Orphée aux Enfers for Gotham Chamber Opera, a return to Caramoor International Music Festival for Sparafucile (Rigoletto) and the Bass Soloist in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony,  a reprise of Capellio (I Capuleti ed I Montecchi) for  Washington Concert Opera, a reprise of Sarastro for Opera Saratoga (formerly Lake George Opera), a reprise of the Bonze (Madama Butterfly) for Florida Grand Opera, and Il Spettro in the new world premiere of Franco Faccio’s Amleto with Opera Southwest. Mr. Beruan looks forward to reprises of both Sarastro and the Bonze, and a role debut of Gessler (Guillaume Tell) – all for to be announced companies.

Ben Moore | Mercutio | Baritone
Benjamin Moore, native Atlantan, has been praised for singing “warmly, elegantly [and] with a certain suavity” by Tim Smith of the Baltimore Sun. Benjamin’s recent performances include John Roxborough – a role he premiered – in Shadowboxer, Shepherd/Soloist in Black Nativity (Dominion Entertainment), Tin Man in The Wiz (GLOW), and Ensemble in Hot Mikado (GLOW). Other performances include performing in the Americolor Opera Alliance Gala concert as well as the role Edward Chaney Phillips in the opera Carmen J, also with Americolor Opera Alliance. In 2015, Benjamin was selected to record the musical I Dream, a musical about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. that was performed at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, GA. Benjamin recently portrayed Presidential Medal of Freedom Recipient and Civil Rights Activist C.T. Vivian. As a former Resident Young Artist with Opera Colorado, Benjamin performed Father in Hansel and Gretel, Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet, Dandini in La Cenerentola, and the Customs Sergeant in La Bohème. Mr. Moore has also sung roles with the American Opera Theatre, Maryland Opera Studio, and the Peabody Opera Theatre. Although a classically trained pianist and vocalist, Benjamin is equally comfortable with various genres of music and has extensive performance experience in gospel/Christian, jazz, and R&B. Benjamin has sung and recorded with several gospel artists and continues to perform throughout the United States. Benjamin holds a B.M. in Music Education from Furman University and an M.M in Voice Performance from the Peabody Conservatory. Benjamin gives all glory and honor to his Savior, Jesus Christ.

Jessi Barnett | Stéphano | Mezzo
Jessie Barnett, mezzo soprano, is ecstatic to be working with GLOW as a GAAP artist for their 2016 season. As a native of Greenville, SC, she has volunteered in the past as a chorus member for GLOW’s Amahl and the Night Visitors and La Bohéme. Jessie recently completed her Bachelors of Music degree in Vocal Performance at Furman University in May, where she studied with Lisa Barksdale. While at Furman, Jessie was a member of the Furman Singers and Chamber Choir; studied abroad for a semester in Arezzo, Italy; and participated in many events held by the music department, including four main stage productions, multiple oratorio performances, and two honors recitals. This summer, not only is she performing with GLOW, but she also attended SongFest 2016 as a Young Artist in Los Angeles and traveled with the Furman Singers on their international tour to Germany. Next year, Jessie intends to continue her studies in vocal performance by pursuing her Master’s degree at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

Troy Castle | Count Capulet | Basso
Baritone Troy Castle is distinguishing himself as a successful performer and voice pedagogue. He was twice a regional runner-up in the highly competitive National Association of Teachers of Singing Artist Award competition, and his solo performances have earned him awards from Shenandoah Conservatory, the University of South Carolina, Bob Jones University, and SC NATS. He has covered and performed leading operatic roles, including Bartolo in Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia and the title role in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi. Recently he performed the role of Melchior in GLOW Lyric Theatre’s 2015 production of Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors. A frequent concert performer and recitalist, he has been featured in performances of Handel’s Messiah and Chandos Anthem No. 9, Mendelssohn’s Elijah and St. Paul, and Mozart’s Requiem. Troy holds the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in voice pedagogy from Shenandoah Conservatory, as well as a master’s degree in voice performance and an undergraduate degree in church music. He is the co-recipient of the 2015 Shenandoah Conservatory “Dean’s Graduate Scholar Award” which recognizes exceptional aptitude for research and scholarship, and his original research has been presented at the annual symposium of The Voice Foundation and the NATS national conference. He is a Level III certified instructor in Somatic Voicework™ The LoVetri Method and has completed post-certification training in contemporary commercial singing styles. Troy is currently appointed as Assistant Professor of Voice at Bob Jones University and he continues to perform regularly in addition to his teaching and research pursuits.

Khary Wilson | Tybalt | Tenor
Khary Wilson, Tenor, hails from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He received his Bachelors from the University of South Carolina and his Masters from Louisiana State University. As a 2013 young artist with Opera Theater of Pittsburgh, Mr. Wilson performed Remandado in “Carmen.” He performed the 4 character roles in “Les Contes d’Hoffman” with Harrower Opera Workshop and Simon Zealots with GLOW Lyric Theater. In 2014, He performed Ferrando with the Peach State Opera and was returned to Opera Theater Pittsburgh to sing Brighella in “Ariadne auf Naxos.” Recently, Mr. Wilson was a 2015 Studio Artist with the Opera Studio Melbourne/Gertrude Opera in Melbourne Australia. While in the studio, He performed Guido in Offenbach’s “Guido’s Cat”, Boy Sam in “The Difficulty of Crossing a Field” and the Tenor Soloist in Bach’s “Coffee Cantata.” Other Austalian performances include: Tenor in Tutti Mozart with Canberra Concert Series, Tenor solo in Carl Orf’s Carmina Burana with the Maroondah Symphony Orchestra and Soloist in Handel’s Dixit Dominus with Heidleburg Choral Society. Mr. Wilson performed Baby Bear in “All According to taste: The Three Bears Guide to Porridge Making” with FBN Productions. It was outreached throughout South Carolina’s elementary schools during the Month of March. In May, He then was heard as Nanki-Poo in the Mikado with Capital City Opera.

Sara Magun | Gertrude | Mezzo
Sara Magun is thrilled to be returning to GLOW Lyric Theater in the role of Gertrude (Romeo et Juliette).  A native of New York, Ms. Magun has had the pleasure of performing in multiple venues all over the east coast and mid west. She spent several years as a Resident Artist with the Palm Beach Opera where she had the pleasure of performing in many operas as well as recitals.  From 2006-2010 Ms. Magun attended Indiana University, Jacobs School of Music where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance.  While there she was seen in multiple operas, scenes performances, concerts and recitals.  Her most notable performance while attending IU was a concert of Wagner’s Wesendonk Lieder, performed with full orchestra.  Since moving to the Upstate in 2010, Ms. Magun has been a frequent performer with GLOW Lyric Theater, being featured in such roles as Peep-bo (The Mikado), Kate (The Pirates of Penzance), The Mother (Amahl and the Night Visitors), as well as multiple ensemble roles and concert work.  In 2013 Ms. Magun made her debut at The Warehouse Theater as a Liebeslieder Singers in A Little Night Music.  Recently Ms. Magun had the pleasure of singing Hanna in Lehar’s The Merry Widow in a joint production by Spartanburg Repertory Theater and Converse College.

Nicholas Hawkins | Duke | Basso
Nicholas Hawkins , a native of Greenville, SC, received his degree in Vocal Performance at theUniversity of South Carolin a in 2016, where he s tudied with Mr. Jacob Will , and was a member of both the USC Concert Choir and University Chorus. It is also at the University of South Carolina where Nicholas was an active member of Opera at USC, performing roles such as Nicholas’s past roles include the Der Vater in Hänsel und Gretel, Fiorello in the Il Barbiere di Siviglia, and Il Commendatore in Don Giovanni. Nicholas has also been seen as Theseus in Harrower Opera Workshop’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Ediberto Ortega | Paris | Baritone
Eddie is a rising sophomore BFA Music Theatre major at Florida State University. He is extremely thrilled to be working in his first professional production with Glow Lyric Theatre. His past credits include Luke (The Disposal) and Male Swing (A Chorus Line). He’d like to thank God, first of all, for his ongoing blessings. He’d also like to thank Jenna for literally helping him get to where he is today and Christian for the opportunity. He’d like to thank his family and friends for eternal love and support, especially Mom and Pop for always supporting my passion and showing me love every day of my life. Finally, thank you Beautiful. You’re my everything. God is good!

Michael Leyte-Vidal | Grégorio | Baritone
Michael Leyte-Vidal is an incoming senior in the BA Theatre program at Florida State University. Previous productions include: Twelfth Night (Sir Toby), Ragtime (Ensemble), and Little Shop of Horrors (Audrey II). Michael would like to thank Christian and Jenna for this opportunity, as well as his family and friends for their continued love and support.

Brandon Snook | Benvolio | Tenor
Tenor, Brandon Snook returns to Glow Lyric Theatre, where he has been seen as Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance (2013), and as Alfred in Die Fledermaus (2011). For those roles, the Greenville News acclaimed his “ringing voice, suave musicianship”, and “lovely, rich tenor”. A stalwart of new and contemporary American opera, Brandon has performed the role of Vietnam POW Jim Thompson in Tom Cipullo’s Glory Denied, with several performances in New York City, and in Philadelphia, Memphis, and Boise. He has also premiered several operatic roles and productions, including Robert Paterson & David Cote’s Three Way: The Companion, Michael Bergman & Stefania de Kenessey’s Bonfire of the Vanities, Phil Kline & Jim Jarmusch’s Tesla, and Sidney Boquiren & Daniel Neer’s Independence Eve. He has appeared on stage in NYC at Lincoln Center (Geffen, Walter), Carnegie Hall, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Symphony Space, Baryshnikov Art Center, DiMenna Center, and Galapagos Art Space. He has also appeared Off-Broadway in performances of Terrance McNally’s Master Class. More traditional operatic roles in his repertoire include Count Almaviva (Barber of Seville), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), and Nemorino (Elixir of Love). Previous opera seasons include Brandon onstage at companies such as Cincinnati Opera, Michigan Opera Theatre, Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Des Moines Metro Opera, Sarasota Opera, Opera Ithaca, and Opera Theatre of Connecticut. Additional performances have taken him to Canada, Germany, Switzerland, and Israel. A native of Dallas, Texas, Brandon has a Bachelor of Music in Voice from the University of Kansas, and a Master of Music in Voice from the University of Michigan.
