Enjoy the classic 1895 operatic adaptation of Henri Murger’s 1851 novelScènes de la vie de Bohème. The opera, La Bohème, is considered by many to be the most popular ever written. Puccini’s lush score and gritty dramatic portrayal of life, love, and most importantly death, in the bohemian Latin Quarter of Paris has endured on the operatic stage for almost 125 years. It has provided to us some of the most beloved arias and emsembles in the operatic repertory: Rodolfo’s Che gelida manina, Mimi’sMi chiamano Mimi, and Musetta’s “Waltz,” Quando me’n vo.’ This new production is stage directed by Jenna Tamisiea and designed by Will Ragland. Christian Elser conducts the GLOW Festival Orchestra and Chorus. It stars tenor, David Blalock (Virginia Opera, Santa Fe Opera) as Rodolfo, Soprano, Ashley Kerr (Opera Carolina, Ft. Worth Opera) as Mimi and soprano, Diana Thompson-Brewer (Opera North, Augusta Opera) as Musetta.

GLOW Lyric Theatre will perform La Bohème July 31 – August 9, 2014 at The Gunter Theatre – Peace Center in Greenville SC.
